The man who compose NYSC anthem died at 74

The writer of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC song of praise, Wole Adetiran, is dead.

The development was confirmed by the publicity officer of the Ogun State NYSC office that the 74-year-old died on Friday evening after a long time illness.

The Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Dr Belinda Faniyi, affirmed the news to our reporter, expressing that she was going to inform the Director-General about the news.

“The LGI just informed me (about the demise) so I’ll tell DG,” she said.

Adetiran’s passing has likewise been declared in numerous Facebook groups of the Celestial Church of Christ, as he held the post of National Music Director before his demise.

The 74-year-old was in July 2021 visited by the NYSC Director-General, Ibrahim Shuaibu, at his home in Ibafo, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The septuagenarian, who made the tune in 1984, said he was moved that he was at last remembered 37 years after he formed the melody.


He bemoaned that he had been experiencing sicknesses, including hypertension, diabetes and prostate cancer beginning around 2018.

Adetiran, who concentrated on music at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, reviewed that he formed the song of devotion in 1984 while he was a corps member in Oyo State.
