Thunderstorm kills four youth in ondo community

In Ago Dada, Ondo State’s Akure North localgovernment region, four adolescents are said to have been killed by a rainstorm.

As indicated by newsmen, the occurrence occurred on Wednesday evening, March 30 during a rainstorm in the town.

The demise of the young people apparently started a dissent in the town on Thursday, which brought about the passing of an old man and property obliteration by the infuriated youth.

As expressed by the source, the adolescents were disturbed in light of the fact that the four young people killed by the thunderstorm were all non-indigenes.

He proceeded to say that the non-indigenes in the village, incensed by the occurrence, chose to go after the indigenes and annihilate their properties also.

He said: “The adolescents of the town waged war toward the beginning of today (Thursday) which brought about the killing of an old man in the town. The grouse of the youths was that the four young people killed were all non-indigenes. A few structures having a place with Akure indigenes were vandalized.”

It was said that Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), affirmed the episode yet rejected that there was any dissent in the town.
