Edo LG polls: Obaseki, Orbih battle for leadership, as party fix different date for primary.

The fight for supremacy between Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the National Vice Chairman, Southsouth, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, is taking a risky aspect, in front of the April 19 chairmanship and councillorship races, with every one of the camps fixing various dates for primaries.

Obaseki’s camp, in the “Notice of Election,” endorsed by Edo PDP’s Organizing Secretary, Tony Anenih (Jr.), Fix It, on Edo PDP’s letterhead, and dated March 31, 2022, as upheld by the state’s Chairman of the party, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, fixed its primaries for April 5, with a duplicate of the notification acquired yesterday in Benin.

The other gathering, supported by Orbih, the immediate Edo director of PDP, who is a partner of Rivers State lead representative, Nyesom Wike, in a letter dated March 28, 2022, and endorsed by the state’s Secretary of the overseeing party, Hillary Otsu, fixed its primaries for April 2 (today).

Obaseki and Orbih had been at battle over control of Edo PDP and harmonization of the party’s chiefs from the 193 wards, 18 LGAs to the State Working Committee (SWC), taking into account the June 19, 2020 absconding of Edo lead representative from the then administering All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, alongside his abounding allies, in front of the September 19, 2020 governorship political election.
